Heartburn is the most common complaint associated with pregnancy. It occurs because the stomach acids are back in the esophagus causing a burning sensation. The common heartburn symptoms are heartburn relief, heartburn symptoms and regurgitation. Heartburn relief is provided by over-the-counter medicines, but they provide temporary relief and will soon need to be reapplied or taken as per the advice of a doctor.

Another symptom of pregnancy is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD is caused when the liquids in the stomach back up into the throat, which can cause painful burning sensations. Two main types of GERD – gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, and Barrett’s esophagus, or Barrett’s – occur in women as they are pregnant and can lead to difficulties while nursing, eating, drinking and even intercourse.

One of the other well-known early pregnancy symptoms heartburn is morning sickness. Women experience nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramping, etc during their first few trimesters of pregnancy. This is due to the fact that the body’s digestive system has not had time to prepare the necessary foods for the baby to be born. Food and drinks that have not been digested begin to leak through the esophagus and into the stomach causing feelings of nausea and heartburn. Nausea and sicknesses, however, are not always a sign of early pregnancy and should be checked by a doctor as well.

Gas and bloating can also be causes of heartburn. These are also caused by the fact that the digestive system has not had enough time to prepare digestive fluids for the baby. As the baby grows inside the uterus, the body’s digestive system becomes overworked and cannot keep up with the new demands. It then produces excessive digestive acids to aid digestion. Some women will experience no heartburn at all, while others may find relief from heartburn and gas through the use of certain medications.

Other Signs

Other signs of a healthy pregnancy include increased energy, drowsiness, and weight gain. Many women notice that their energy level increases when they are pregnant, often without realizing that this is due to the increase of hormones. Drowsiness can be caused by many factors, including exhaustion from work or other activities. If you are experiencing increased energy, you may wish to take in more natural foods and increase your vitamin and mineral intake to give yourself extra strength. Also, if you are taking medications for your medication, such as acetaminophen or aspirin, be sure to stop taking them as soon as possible, to prevent the drug from affecting your unborn child.

Finally, another one of the pregnancy heartburn symptoms is acid reflux. This occurs when stomach contents back up into the esophagus. Although this is not considered to be a serious condition, it does need to be discussed with a physician. One way to alleviate this symptom is to avoid spicy foods and drinks, which can irritate the esophagus. Eating small meals, instead eating several small meals throughout the day, may also help you cope with the acid reflux. Another solution is to add more cream to your diet, as cream has been shown to reduce the effects of heartburn.

Saturated fats seem to be the culprit when it comes to what makes saturated triglycerides significantly less healthy than unsaturated ones. Eating foods that are high in fat, such as butter, can definitely make the condition worse. Also, it is important that you stay away from drinks that contain high levels of fructose, as this too can contribute to increasing your body’s production of acids. You may want to replace your drinks with water, and lower your fat consumption, instead of increasing it.
