Before knowing the Signs of Pregnancy While Breastfeeding let’s know if someone can get pregnant while breastfeeding. The answer is yes. Though breastfeeding is a great natural contraceptive (lactation amenorrhea method) there are certain conditions that you will know in some time. For now, the question is how soon you can get pregnant after giving birth. If you are not breastfeeding you can get pregnant again as soon as three weeks, however a report says most women take six weeks to ovulate again after giving birth. If you are breastfeeding exclusively you can get pregnant after six months (When you are breastfeeding the level of Prolactin in your body is high which decreases your fertility).

You have to follow certain conditions for effectiveness if you want to use breastfeeding as a contraceptive method.

· Your baby must be younger or 6 months of age. After that time you are much more likely to become pregnant and maybe need to use another method of birth control if you want to prevent pregnancy.

· Your baby must breastfeed fully, which means the baby receives only breast milk and nothing else. Breastfeeding must be maintained with all-day feeding, and no long intervals can occur between feedings which are no longer than 4 hours in the daytime and not longer than 6 hours at night.

· You must not have a period. If your periods start, use an additional birth control method.

After 6 months, even if you are breastfeeding exclusively and your period has not returned, you must use an additional form of birth control if you want to prevent pregnancy. You can get pregnant even before your first period as you ovulate first, after having your period.
